Ariadne

Ariadne was the daughter of king Minos and his wife Pasiphae.
When Theseus arrived in Crete ,Ariadne fell in love with Theseus and decided to help him return. Theseus promised her to take her away from Crete and marry her .She gave him a sword to fight Minotaur as well as a ball of thread (mitos ).She advised him to tie one end near the entrance of labyrinth and let the tread unroll as he delves deeper into the twisting and branching paths .When Theseus found Minotaur he managed to slay him and then he  followed the thread back to the entrance where Ariadne was waiting .According to the myth Theseus and Ariadne escaped from Crete by ship and stopped in Naxos Island.There Theseus abandoned her  because he was already in love with other princess in Athens. However, God Dionysus loved Ariadne and they finally got married together.
